Meet the Investors Round Up
A collection of top Mid-Atlantic technology investors joined Tandem Innovation Alliance on May 24th in Rockville Town Square to meet with startups in emerging technology sectors such as artificial intelligence, robotics and cybersecurity.
The list of investors included Razor’s Edge, CIT GAP Funds, the Maryland Venture Fund, Lavrock Ventures, Blu Ventures and DataTribe. Officials with each of the investment groups spoke about their portfolios and learned about the companies in attendance.
We set up the tabletop networking to encourage a conversation between investors and startups in the region. Too often there are complaints that the greater Washington region lacks enough capital to support more technology startup growth. There is certainly room to grow in this field, but plenty of opportunities funding startups do exist and we wanted to highlight some of those.
This was the first time we have held a tabletop networking event. We did not want it to be a formal pitch session between companies and investors, but styled more like a conversation to encourage dialogue. We held 15-minute sessions in order to allow investors and companies to introduce themselves and then ask any questions.
Not only did the investors and startups interact, but the entrepreneurs also shared tips and challenges they have learned or experienced as they have worked to grow their companies.
We plan on hosting this event again follow positive feedback across the board. Look for updates in our Events section or in the newsletter.
Some of the startups in attendance included: Kitchology, VideoKall, GovReady, PBC Lightsense Technology, Rotornaut LLC, DHHS, CyberAcademy.us, ServiceBot, AQUAS Inc., LiDAR Drone Services, Funstore.io MapHubs, WERBIE, FourV Systems, ICG, The Femly Box, NEAT SPACE INDUSTRIAL, Magnet App, Loci, Bethesda Green, Broadstone Technologies, Ergonomic Values,, PeopleBeforeCode Inc., Bessemer Trust, Stout Risius,Storebook, Eolianvr, Tekpitch, Allied Data, 1000ecofarms, and Thresher.
Thank you to Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation and Avison Young for sponsoring the event. Without their support, the event would have been impossible.
